About the Speaker:

Dan Levitis Ph.D. (UC Berkeley 2009) is a wildlife ecologist, evolutionary biologists, and environmental educator. He has taught at universities in several countries on topics including zoology, conservation biology, scientific writing, and population ecology.  As Community Science Coordinator for Sonoma Ecology Center, he brings students, volunteers and visitors to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park into the scientific process. He supervises Sugarloaf’s Wildlife Monitoring Team (a.k.a. CritterCam Volunteers) who have captured tens of thousands of images with motion-triggered cameras deployed around the Park. A proponent of drawing inspiration from nature, Dr. Levitis is particularly interested in how California’s wildlife, and habitats, teach us about fire resilience and recovery.
